Sony has decided to take down the newly-launched PvP shooter video game, Concord, within weeks of its launch.
The decision was taken after it failed to hit the expected number of concurrent users on both PS5 and PC.
Developed by Firewalk Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Concord was launched on August 23, 2024.
Refund to the Physical Copy Owners
Ryan Ellis announced Concord will be taken offline starting September 6. Thankfully, the gamers who purchased the PvP shooter would receive a full refund.
Moreover, the Game Director also mentioned the video game’s indefinite hiatus and elaborated on the refund process and method.

Along with the customers of Concord physical copy, those who purchased from other digital storefronts will also be refunded.
The players will no longer be able to access the game once the refund process is completed.
Refunds for purchases made through the PS Store and Direct may take 30-60 days to reflect on your bank statement.
If the original payment method is no longer available, the refunded amount will be credited to your PSN wallet.
Reason Behind Concord’s Failure
Ever since its launch, Concord was criticized for its character design. The developers and publishers failed to solve the match-making issues due to the low concurrent users.
The publisher’s market positioning concerning Concord also contributed to its failure. The market has been dominated by the free-to-play model model. Hence, Concord’s subscription-based model failed to attract the gamers.
Regarding the future, Ellis penned that the developers will continue to explore options to determine the best path ahead.
