Homey And Pennywise Meaning In NYT Connections For Today (October 15)

Seemed bit easier!

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Homey refers to a Fictional Clown in today’s NYT Connections rather than a friend/ something cozy.
  • Pennywise and Homey belong to the same category, i.e., Fictional Clowns, along with Joker and Ronald.
  • According to difficulty rating, the four categories for today were Football Positions, Cable Channels, Fictional Clowns, and What “D” Might Stand For.

The New York Times’ Connection is a 4×4 word puzzle game which refreshes every other day. You have four chances to sort the word into four categories that match a specific theme.

Most of the time, the word has multiple meanings, so carefully separating the group, no matter the difficulty, is essential.

Homey and Pennywise seemed tricky to most players, including me, for today’s case.

Clues And Solution For Today’s NYT Connections

If you are a regular NYT connections player, you may have an idea you don’t get any clue about or a theme, unlike Strands or even Crossword puzzles.

However, to manage the four categories, the developers created four distinct difficulties: yellow, green, blue, and purple.

In most cases, you may get yellow or green puzzles first, given the difficulty, but it’s not always the case.

Make four categories that resemble the same theme.

After starting today’s NYT connections, I instantly saw Defense and Guard and assumed they might fall into a sports category.

So, I selected the two words instantly and came across other words: Quarterback and Safety, which seemed evident as Football Positions.

Unfortunatley, I missed the Center; instead, I went for Defense, which is definitely a part of Football, but the position seemed too vague for Connection’s case.

Pick football positions for the first puzzle.

After getting the first category, but with a cost; only 12 words remain, I selected Nicklodean instantly and hoped it fell into a rather more easier category.

I was pretty much correct; I selected three words: Nickelodeon, History, and Discovery, thinking of TV channels.

Select the TV Channels.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t think of a fourth channel, so I selected Democrat. Thanks to the One Away hint, I chose Oxygen and sorted the second category, which was a lucky pick.

After halfway through today’s NYT puzzle, three words instantly separated from others: Pennywise, Joker, and Ronald (McDonald) due to their history of being clowns.

With only two lifelines remaining, I had to pick the fourth word carefully. After analyzing the five remaining words, only one seemed to match the theme, i.e., Homey.

Homey And Pennywise Meaning In Today’s NYT Connections

If you go by the literal meaning of Homey, you might think of your friends or something thats is cozy/ comfortable. Homey didn’t seem to match any theme in this case.

However, if you are a fan of video games, including me, you would most probably put Homey in the same category as clowns on either the first or second try.

Keep the remaining words for the end.

With only four words remaining, I had no idea what they refer to. My job was to select the four remaining words to determine their meaning and theme.

By picking the remaining words, Drive, Dimensional, Defense, and Democrat fell into What “D” Might Stand For, which seemed too hard and easy to configure at the same time after knowing the theme.
