The New York Times offers numerous word games, including Strands, Connections, Mini Crossword, and Crossword.

A subscription offers a few perks and games, such as Crossword. However, you can still enjoy Connections and many other games for free.

If you are a regular Connections player, you might know a few words to test your brain-cracking capacity to the fullest. For Instance, in today’s puzzle, Swinger and Goodfellas seemed way trickier.

Hints And Answers For Today’s NYT Connections

If Connections is new to you, you have a 4 x 4 grid of words whose difficulty rating increases gradually from the Yellow to Purple category, respectively.

You don’t always have to get the Yellow category first; you can solve the Purple category first or Green and Blue, which seems easier in your case.

However, in most cases, players tend to solve the yellow category first, given the difficulty rating.

In today’s case as well, I got the yellow one first, but I made a blunder by selecting Field instead of Green. I eventually got it correct with only one mistake.

Meaning Of Goodfella And Swinger In Today’s NYT Connections

After sorting out the easiest group among the four, I instantly saw GoodFella and was pretty sure it was deemed to be in the movie category.

However, the movie’s name was incomplete and missing an “S.” Regular players know how Wyna Liu often tricks them with her mind-boggling themes.

Today’s puzzle reminded me of October 3rd’s Connections, where the creator presented a Bug category and inserted a random letter in the initial word.

In today’s case, I felt maybe they removed a letter instead of adding one and selected Car. With two movies sorted, my job was to find the next two with a missing letter.

As Car and Goodfella have the “S” letter removed, there was a high chance all had the same letter removed.

So, my third word in the category was Jaw, but it took me quite a while to sort it out, and I even made a mistake by selecting Fields (thought of The Fields movie) again in the same category.

Even though my instinct was pretty much correct initially, I made two mistakes with two categories remaining and opted for Swinger after a deep thought.

With eight words left, I selected Address, Handle, and Answer because they resembled Managing Situations.

It was immensely difficult to think of the fourth letter with a similar meaning, so I tried my luck and finally selected Field, with only one mistake remaining.

As always, the purple category’s words seemed too vague. By selecting the remaining words: Natural, Lemon, Criminal, and Harvard, it fell into the “_ _ _Law” Category.

Here is the final list of words with the themes and difficulty rating for Today’s Puzzle.

  • Grassy Area (Yellow): Green, Lawn, Park, Yard
  • Deal With (Green): Address, Answer, Field, Handle
  • Movies With “S” Removed (Blue): Car, Goodfella, Jaw, Swinger
  • _ _ _Law (Purple): Natural, Lemon, Criminal, Harvard
