In Farming Simulator 25 (FS25), straw plays a significant role in farming operations, particularly after harvesting crops.
As players navigate the depths of farming, understanding how to effectively produce, collect, and utilize straw can significantly impact their productivity.
From harvesting crops to advanced baling technology, players are equipped with a variety of tools and techniques to optimize their operations.
Collecting Straw In FS25
When you harvest crops like wheat, barley, or oats using a combine harvester, you have the option to leave straw behind.
To enable this, press the comma key while harvesting. This will allow the harvester to drop straw instead of chopping it up.
After harvesting, you can collect the straw using either a baler or a loader wagon.
The baler will turn the straw into bales, while the loader wagon can pick it up directly from the field. Significantly, Recent mods allow players to collect straw during missions.
Animal Bedding And Baling Straw In FS25
Players can use straw as bedding for animals. If they provide straw, it increases their productivity and health by improving their living conditions.
Significantly, Cows that have straw bedding produce more milk and manure compared to those without it.
Further, they can sell collected straw for profit. The value of straw can be offset by the increased manure production when used for bedding, making it a worthwhile investment.
Baling Straw
If you choose to bale the straw, choose an appropriate baler for your needs. In FS25, you have options such as:
- KUHN LSB 1290 D for square bales.
- New Holland Roll-Belt 150 for cylindrical bales.
- KUHN FBP 3135 for additional features like automatic wrapping and dual unloading capability.
Players must ensure that the tractor is compatible with the baler they have selected and attach it properly.
Thus, they must position their tractor with the baler over the straw that has been left on the field.
You can turn on the baler (usually by pressing ‘B’). The baler will automatically pick up the straw and start compressing it into bales.
Depending on your baler’s capacity, it will create bales that can vary in size. For instance, round bales can have diameters ranging from 0.9 to 1.9 meters depending on the model.
Once they create a bale, it will be ejected from the back of the baler. You can choose to leave it on the ground or collect it immediately.
Sell Straw In Farming Simulator 25 (FS25)
You can open the map in FS25 and look for designated selling points for straw. These points are usually marked on the map and can vary based on your game’s specific map and settings.
Common locations to sell straw are:
- Close animal dealers.
- Specific sell points indicated on the map (like above field 15 or right at the upper corner of field 28)
You can Drive your loaded trailer or truck to the identified selling point and unstrap your bales if using a trailer.
Further, players can try using the appropriate key command (usually ‘X’ on PC) to unstrap and unload their bales or loose straw.
For loose straws, they can simply drive over the designated area until the sale is completed.
Before selling, they can check the price overview tab in the main menu to see current straw prices.
