When the game launched in the beginning, the players used to adopt a child in the game, but later, it changed to virtual pets.
Players now spend their time in the game caring for the virtual pets to make them fully grown.
If a player has four fully grown pets, then they can combine them to form a neon pet. Players can purchase a few pets only using the in-game currency.
Like other games, Adopt Me! is also about to launch a Christmas 2024 update. The date has not been confirmed yet.

Christmas 2024 Update New Pets, Pet Wear And Minigames
The Christmas Update 2024 offers many new exciting minigames like previous years. Pet Rescue, Snowball Fight, Present Shuffle, and Frostclaw’s Fury are some of the minigames in the update.
The update also includes an Advent Calendar that rewards players every day until Christmas Day, like every year.
There will be new pet wear in the Christmas update for the existing pets in the game.
The update will introduce new pets: Blueberry Cream Bat Dragon, Gingerbread Dragon, Frost Claw, Snow Bat Dragon, and Snow Squirrel.
The next thing in the update players can witness is a Candy Castle. Inside is a Candy Egg, which will be revealed when the update is released.
Lastly, there is a secret door inside the Candy Castle, where you can see I Have Eyes And Ears Everywhere written at the entrance.
The updates will take place in two phases, where the first phase update will last for the first two weeks.
