Diablo 4 Season 7: Season of Witchcraft brings new powers from the Witch Doctor class in Diablo 3, like Firebats and Poison Frogs, that any class can use.
You can unlock these abilities by completing seasonal quests, which include fighting Headrotten enemies and taking on new challenges in the Tree of Whispers area.
One of these quests is Poison in the Roots, a special mission where you perform a ritual and fight enemies, all while exploring the updated Tree of Whispers for better rewards.
Starting The Poison In The Roots Quest In Diablo 4
To begin the quest, return to Gelena near the Tree of Whispers. She will guide you through the ritual process.
Pay close attention to The Coven as they recite the names of the tree.
Observing this sequence is important because it determines the order of steps you need to follow during the ritual.
Perform The Ritual In Poison In The Roots Quest Diablo 4
The ritual involves interacting with three braziers in the correct order: start with the left brazier, then the right, and finally the one at the top.
This will trigger the ritual and summon snakes, which you must defeat. Killing these snakes is crucial as you’ll need to collect three vials of their blood to proceed.
After gathering the Nangari blood, the next task is to draw the ritual circle. Use the blood to trace the circle by walking around it carefully.
Once the circle is complete, continue observing The Coven as they perform their part of the ritual.
Defend The Ritual Circle
Waves of enemies, including serpent-like creatures, will attack during the ritual. Your primary goal here is to stop these enemies from entering the ritual circle.
If they manage to disrupt the ritual, you’ll fail this part. Fight off all waves until the area is secure. Once the battle is over, speak to Gelena to move forward.
How To Unlock Season 7 Quests
To participate in Season 7 content, you must first finish the main campaign of Diablo 4.
If you’ve already completed it with any character, you can skip the campaign for new Seasonal Characters.
Seasonal Characters are required to access all the new quests, including this one.
You can create a Seasonal Character specifically for this season, and the game allows you to jump straight into the Season Journey and Battle Pass without playing through the main story again.
