- For the Maypole in KCD2, you need to engage with Henik guarding the maypole in three ways.
- You need a sharp tool to chop down the maypole. If you don’t have an axe, you can find a work axe near Henik’s house. Make sure Henik is gone before you start chopping.
- After chopping down the maypole, pick it up to add it to your inventory. If you leave it behind, you won’t be able to complete the quest.
In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the side quest “Frogs” involves stealing a maypole from the town of Tachov as part of a prank against the neighboring village.
You’ll find Old Olbram in the village of Zhelejov who”ll tell you about his plan to steal the maypole from Tachov.
Further, you must agree to help Olbram. If you refuse, the quest will end before it even begins in KCD2.
Investigating The Maypole In Tachov In KCD2
Tachov is a village relatively close to Zhelejov, so the travel time should be short.
Thus, you can follow the road or any well-worn path on your map. Remember, the maypole will be on the eastern side of the town.
You’ll find a man guarding the maypole, Henik who is protecting the maypole, and you’ll need to deal with him which is the most crucial part of the quest.
Dealing With Henik
Option 1: The Bribe Approach
You can start by talking to Henik; you’ll need to have high enough speech skill. You can convince Henik to let you watch the maypole for him.
Option 2: Intimidation
You can choose dialogue options that are deliberately insulting or threatening to Henik. Further, you can prepare for a fistfight and avoid using weapons.
If you kill him, you’ll likely face the consequences with the law and possibly make the quest uncomputable. Once you’ve beaten him, he’ll run off, leaving the maypole unguarded.
Option 3: Playing Matchmaker (Romance Option)
You can find Manka, who works at the tavern in Tachov. She might have a little crush on Henik.
Thus, convince Manka to agree to a date with Henik; tell Henik that Manka wants to meet him. He’ll be overjoyed.
Further, wait until night and Speak with Henik again to tell him he can see Manka. He will finally leave to meet her.
Chopping Down The Maypole
You need a sharp tool to chop down the maypole, as you can’t just pull it out of the ground.
If you don’t already have an axe in your inventory, there’s a work axe embedded in a tree trunk near Henik’s house, and it’s your best bet.
Also, you must make sure Henik is gone. If he’s still around, he’ll interfere.
For quest progression, approach the base of the maypole and interact with it. Henry will automatically climb up and start chopping.
Finally, you’ll see a brief animation of Henry swinging the axe. The maypole will eventually fall.
After the maypole falls, make sure you pick it up and conclude the quest.
