Answers For Today’s NYT Connections (February 23) With Words Meaning

Analyzing today’s Connections word, the first four that came to my mind were Butter, Hot Sauce, Syrup, and Jam. Each of these words seems to refer to breakfast items.

So, after grouping these words together, I got the blue group titled ” Breakfast Condiments.

Got the first one.

Moving on with the remaining words, I grouped out Milk, Beans, Tea, and Pickle. But I was one step away from getting the right answers.

So, after losing one life, I opt for the remaining words like “Can,” “Freeze,” “Pickle,” and “Ferment.” These words somehow seem to be related to preserving foods.

Gnash And Grate Meaning In NYT Connections #623

Analyzing the remaining words, I collected words like Grind, Scrape, Grate, and Gnash (with a friend’s suggestion).

After submitting the words, I got the yellow group titled ” Rub Together.” So, after getting the title, I got the actual meaning of the words.

purple remains
Only purple remains.

Gnash basically means to grind (one’s teeth) together as a sign of anger (often used hyperbolically).

Meanwhile, Grate is to reduce (food) to small shreds by rubbing it on a grater. Grind and Scrape were similar to the Grate and Gnash.

Finally, after losing one hint and taking friend suggestions, I was able to complete today’s connections with the following answers;

  • Breakfast Condiments (Blue): Butter, Hot Sauce, Jam, Syrup
  • Ways to Preserve Food (Green): Can, Ferment, Freeze, Pickle
  • Rub Together (Yellow): Gnash, Grate, Grind, Scrape
  • Proverbial Things That Are Spilled (Purple): Beans, Guts, Milk, Tea
