- To use the horse cart in Dead Rails, just put a saddle on your horse, attach the cart, and carry stuff without needing the Train.
- You can make the cart stronger by adding things like Sheet Metal or Barbed Wire, which helps during the Pony Express Challenge so it doesn’t break easily.
- Players can get really creative by linking many carts together with horses, making a long horse-powered train to carry lots of items across the map.
The Horse Cart, also called just “Cart,” is a tool in Dead Rails that players can attach to horses.
You can find the Horse Cart inside a Barn. These barns spawn randomly far from the train tracks.
So, if you’re riding the train and see a building far away in the distance, it might be a Barn. When you get there, you might find a cart by itself or one already attached to a horse.
How To Use The Horse Cart
To use the cart, just attach it to a horse and put a saddle on the horse. Once that’s done, you’re ready to go.
You can weld different items onto the cart like turrets or storage items. This makes it useful for moving stuff around without using the Train.

It also helps a lot for the Pony Express Challenge. The Horse Cart doesn’t have good protection by default, so it’s smart to weld something like Sheet Metal or Barbed Wire to it.
That way, it won’t be destroyed easily. If you’re playing with a team, a good idea is to weld a Cannon or a Maxim Gun to the cart and bring ammo.
How To Equip The Horse Cart In Dead Rails
Players who are using the Horse class can also equip the Horse Cart.
There are a few ways to unequip the cart, such as another player can grab it, you can place it in your Sack, or you can jump.
But the cart sometimes puts itself back on, so it’s best to jump at least twice just to make sure it stays off.

Players can get creative by making a chain of carts. You can weld a saddled horse onto your cart, then attach another cart to that horse, and keep repeating the process.
This creates a long horse-powered train with as many carts as you want. It’s a smart way to move a lot of stuff across the map without using the Train.
