- BR, BU, CO, CH, and PI are the two initial letters of the remaining Ice Cream flavors.
Today marks the 487th day since The New York Times’ Strands game started. And thanks to Tracy Bennett, today’s game was relatively straightforward and the easiest I have seen in a while.
As today’s theme is “Beyond Vanilla”, you literally have to think of flavors beyond Vanilla. Unlike previous days, today’s theme does not have multiple meanings.
I suppose Vanilla is probably the most default flavor anyone can think of. Hence, it’s part of the theme for the 8 x 6 grid puzzle, and players could even solve it without any hints.
Beyond Vanilla Meaning In NYT Connections (July 3, 2025)
If you want to solve the game faster, think of flavors we have often tried and are simple, while growing up.
No need to think of the likes of black sesame, Earl Grey tea, or rose with cinnamon-roasted almonds.
As today’s flavors are based on _________ flavors. I don’t want to spoil the Spangram now, but you must have the knowledge already of what I am talking about.

I think you’ve already guessed what the flavors are. Yep, it’s Ice cream. Here are the list of Ice cream flavors you will find in today’s Strands;
- BROWNIE
- BUTTERSCOTCH
- COFFEE
- CHERRY
- PISTACHIO
- ICECREAM (Spangram)

While playing the game, I initially got the word Brownie. So, there was a chance that it was part of the Desert (Vanilla Ice Cream Brownie) or based on Beverages (Vanilla Milkshake).
Thankfully, I stumbled upon Butterscotch instantly and got the Spangram at third. So, what I needed to do was find other Ice Cream Flavors, which didn’t take long.
