The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of New World: Aeternum launched on October 15, 2024, with major updates for PC users.
With the latest update of New World: Aeternum, significant changes have been introduced regarding world classifications and character transfers.
Every new world will be designated as a Standard world, while the current Standard and Fresh Start worlds will become Legacy worlds.
Character Transfer In New World: Aeternum
The transfers of characters between servers or regions follow specific rules and guidelines to ensure fair gameplay and balance.
Characters from Legacy Worlds cannot transfer to Standard Worlds, and once players move a character from a Standard World to a Legacy World, they cannot return.
You can transfer between Standard Worlds as long as the target world is not full or restricted.
Players can also create new characters on either Legacy or Standard Worlds, as long as the world is not full or restricted from new character creation.
Inactive Character Transfers
The system will unbind inactive characters who have been offline for over 180 days from their original world to help reduce server congestion during peak times.
Although unbound characters lose social connections like company memberships and friend lists, they retain all progress, items, currency, and completed quests.
Players must choose a new home world in the same region that is not full and is not a Fresh Start World unless it was the original.
This decision is permanent unless the player becomes inactive again or buys a World/Region Transfer token.
Steps to Transfer a Character
To transfer a character, follow these steps:
- Log into your character and ensure you’re in a sanctuary (settlement or outpost).
- Leave your company and remove any active trading post buy/sell orders.
- Open the in-game store and navigate to the “Character Transfer” tab.
- Select Purchase, or use your existing transfer token if available.
- To transfer to a different region, select Select Region and choose the desired region.
- Once in the new region, log in and use the free transfer token to select a specific world.
- Confirm the transfer. Remember, once you finalize the transfer, it is irreversible unless you purchase another transfer token.
- After you confirm, the system will log you out, and your character will be ready in the new world.
Server Transfers In New World
You can also transfer your characters between servers by purchasing a character transfer token. This token allows you to move to a new server under specific conditions.
When transferring between regions, players retain their character progression, faction, inventory, storage, currency, houses, and quest progress.
However, the game restricts transfers: players cannot move to full worlds or worlds undergoing maintenance, and they need a special token for regional transfers.
Standard transfers do not allow moving between regions without purchasing a regional transfer token.
Transferring between worlds in New World: Aeternum requires careful planning, especially for players wanting to stay connected with friends.
Make sure your target world meets the criteria and that you properly address all social bonds and active transactions before initiating a transfer.
