Hunt: Shadow 1896 is a new expansion of Hunt Shadow, a PvPvE First-person shooter.
The update 1.15 was released on August 15, offering new map locations, audio, and backend improvements.
Surprisingly, Crytek is offering the update for free but only released the DLC for a few platforms compared to the base game and still has no cross-play feature.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 Crossplay Feature
Hunt Showdown 1896 is out for Microsoft Windows, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, while the base game was also available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Coming to 2024, the game’s performance, graphics, and requirements have massively changed, which pretty much justifies the case.
Unfortunatley, we will not get to see cross-platform play/ crossplay between PC and Console players, which many players have asked for even with the DLC.
Even if Crytek opted for crossplay, it would be unfair for Console players given the game’s genre, a PvP Extraction Shooter.
Nontheless, the update will offer cross-platform play between Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 users.
However, the catch is you won’t be able to invite your friends directly from the menu.
Can You Crossplay On The Same Platform In Hunt: Showdown 1896?
If you want to join your friends, the only viable option is to start the match at the same time.
Unsurprisingly, many players aren’t convinced of the developers’ approach for not providing the invitation feature.
Many players hoped for at least the invitation feature for cross-playing between the console platforms.
Even though the update seems great for solo players, it lacked a must-have feature for those who want a better co-op experience.
While we have already received an almost complete overhaul update, a Crossplay feature between PCs and Consoles is not possible.
However, the developers may add the cross-invite feature for consoles in future updates.
Till the official confirmation, you can experience a new UI, a CryEngine 5.11 update, wild targets, recruitment and prestige changes, and new maps/weapons in the expansion.
