In Avowed’s quest, “An Untimely End,” players find themselves the target of a sudden assassination attempt in Investigate The Scene Of The Crime.
Significantly, surviving the initial attack, they must uncover the identity of the assailant and the motives behind their treachery.
After the attack, you wake up and realize someone wants you dead, starting your adventure. Further, Marius guides you to where the assassin is hiding.
Vantage Point In Avowed Investigate The Scene Of The Crime
You need to follow Quest Marker B back to the location of the assassination, identifiable by the bloodstain marking your fall.
You must understand the assassin’s perspective. To the right of the Embassy, a series of boxes and ledges form a makeshift path upwards.
This leads to the vantage point where the assassins positioned themselves, a vantage point Marius aptly identifies.

You may need to jump and climb several times. Upon reaching the summit, the first piece of evidence appears: the assassin’s discarded bow. Examine it closely for any identifying marks.
Drop down to the courtyard and fight the spiders there. Further, find a health potion on the dead soldier; keep climbing up using platforms and planks.

The Apothecarist’s Revelation
At the top, you’ll find the “Crow’s Nest,” a hidden spot with arrows. More importantly, there’s a jar of poison the assassin used.
The poison leads to the Apothecarist, who locates him and prepares for a delicate conversation.
He’s scared of you because of what you did with the Sparrowhawks, so be careful how you talk to him.

Show the Apothecarist the Poison Flask and inquire politely about its origin. He will reveal that the poison was purchased by a figure cloaked in a monk’s cowl, covering their identity.
Though the Apothecarist couldn’t identify the buyer, the monk’s cowl gives you an important clue as to the buyer’s identity.

The trail now diverges, offering two potential locations for further investigation:
Temple of Ondra: Implies a religious connection or perhaps someone seeking sanctuary.
Claviger’s Estate: Points to a connection to the nobility or the wealthy, suggesting power, resources, and potentially, a motive.
Claviger’s Estate
You can go to Claviger’s Estate in Northern Paradis, ready to fight enemies. Then, go up the stairs and ladder to the top floor.
Further, you must find and read Claviger’s Journal and the Secret Page on the desk to get the Cistern Key.
Finally, you will see the attic has a chest with the White Key Cameo amulet that restores 50% health when restoring a companion.

The Cistern Beckons: Temple Of Ondra
If you choose to investigate the Temple of Ondra, journey to the Street of the Gods district.
You must use the Cistern Key (obtained from Claviger’s Estate) on the locked door to the left side of the temple to access the Cistern below.
Keep searching Claviger’s Estate or the Temple of Ondra. The clues you find will help you reveal who tried to kill you and why.
If you’re careful and observant, you’ll expose the conspiracy; choosing to investigate Claviger’s Estate will automatically complete both objectives.
