The First Descendant has launched its Season 1 titled Invasion with the release of update 1.1.0 on August 29, 2024.
This update introduces a host of new content and features across all platforms, including PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
Moreover, it introduces several new gameplay mechanisms, particularly through the new Invasion Dungeons and Descendant.
Hailey Rescue Operation And Alpha In The First Descendant
The Season 1 update extends the main questline, introducing over a dozen new objectives that can be completed within an hour.
These quests serve as a tutorial for the new Invasion Dungeons. To unlock the Invasion Dungeons, players must complete the “Hailey Rescue Operation” quest.
The player must talk to Alpha to initiate a rescue operation for Hailey in The First Descendant.
Further, he is incapacitated due to an overload of Inversion Energy and is located in a Quarantine Zone.
Key Features In The First Descendant Invasion
The First Descendant Invasion introduces a new playable character, Hailey Scott with a ranged DPS character specializing in chill-infused attacks. Her skills include:
Safe Strategic Retreat (Passive): Weak point damage varies based on distance to the target.
Cryo Round (Active): Fires multiple rounds that deal damage and inflict a “Cryo” status.
Storm Snare (Active): Knocks back enemies and fires a freezing beam.
Cold Fury (Active): Increases penetration and critical hit rates at the cost of movement speed, with immunity to knockdown at maximum stacks.
Zenith (Active): Equips a unique weapon that enhances damage and recovery of MP when hitting weak points.
Invasion Dungeon Mechanics
Once unlocked, Invasion Dungeons can be accessed from the Infiltration Operations Terminal.
Each day, two “Hard Infiltration Operation” dungeons will feature an Invasion event.
This allows players to choose between regular Infiltration Operations or the new Invasion mode.
Invasion Dungeons have unique mechanics based on the Vulgus Legion encountered:
Legion of Immortality: Defeat enemies and feed their “Artificial Brains” into a Quantum Computing Unit to shut down the “Phase Separation Veil”.
Order of Truth: Survive explosions, remove malignant tumours from the “Arche Pillar”, identify symbols, and match them with the “Ancestor Drone”.
Legion of Darkness: Disable an encryption system, identify “Arche Tiles”, and occupy tiles of the same color to decode the encryption.
Clearing Invasion Dungeons quickly yields more research materials for the new character, Hailey Scott.
Further, it provides Gold and “Ironheart Particles” for the new Inversion Reinforcement progression system.
Gameplay Improvements And Battle Pass
The update includes numerous balance adjustments, performance optimizations, and quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback.
Notable changes involve enhancements to existing skills and modifications to character balance, particularly for Ajax, Blair, and Jayber.
The Battle Pass consists of 96 tiers of rewards, similar to the Pre-Season iteration. The rewards include a variety of cosmetics, such as new weapon: The Excava.
Further, the new head skins for characters like Valby (For Freedom), Bunny (Exhilarating Breakaway), and Sharen (Tactical Decision) and the cute cat back attachment titled “With Cats.”
The Battle Pass features free and premium rewards, while many rewards are locked behind the Premium Upgrade track.
The Battle Pass is priced at 500 Caliber, which translates to approximately $9.99 for players looking to purchase the Premium Upgrade. This allows access to the full range of rewards.
The Season 1 Battle Pass will run until December 4, 2024, giving players ample time to complete the tiers and unlock rewards.
