The Twisted Tree is a series of quests within the Inside Help questline in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
A mini target board featuring all members of the Takahashi family appears in the Objectives menu.
Players will be tasked to identify, locate, and assassinate members of the Takahashi Clan in The Twisted Tree quest.
“The Twisted Tree” Quest In Assassin’s Creed Shadows
First, players need to head to Nijo Palace in the center of the city, which they can easily reach via fast travel.

West of the palace, you will see a merchant standing next to an umbrella cart talk to him to, triggering a cutscene.
He will tell you to speak with a family guard who may have more information about the clan.
The guard can be found east of Honnoji Temple, located south of the palace, lying dead next to a sake crate cart.

Even though the guard is dead, loot his body to find a note containing valuable information about the Takahashi family.
You’ll receive a new objective to eavesdrop on the guards who might reveal information about the Twisted Tree.
The guards stand just outside the entrance to the Imperial Palace. Hide behind the cart and eavesdrop on their conversation.

You’ll learn that a guard dropped a note with details about Jiro’s new patrol path, and you need to find it.
The note lies inside a building known as the Furo of Kyoto, located west of Nijo Palace.
Turn left and enter the building, where you’ll find the note on the floor in the corner. Pick it up to uncover a clue.

This will trigger the next subquest, Dropped Intel, where you must head to the marked location and gather clues about Shiro’s whereabouts.
A new optional quest called Return to Sender will now be unlocked, where players must locate another clue in AC Shadows.
With this, you now have information on all the members of the Twisted Tree clan and must assassinate them.
Defeating Takahashi Jiro
Jiro is located near Honnoji Temple and the southern Kyoto Kakurega, where he will be accompanied by bodyguards.

Although there are other soldiers near him, you can hide in the bushes and use a whistle to lure them in before making a kill.
Approach him and press the assassinate button to deliver the first blow. While this won’t kill him, it will deal significant damage.
Defeating Takahashi Saburo
Takahashi Saburo is located within the Asakai Clan Domain in the northwestern part of the city.

If you equip a tanto weapon, Naoe can quickly assassinate both Shiro and his giant bodyguard in succession.
Players can also enable the Guaranteed Assassinations setting to simplify the task.
Defeating Takahashi Taro
Taro is also in the Asakai Clan Domain, a non-hostile area in Kyoto. Unlike his brother, he is alone.

When you arrive, you’ll find Taro training. Approach him slowly and press the assassinate button.
Although this won’t kill him instantly, you will have delivered the first blow, dealing significant damage.
Defeating Takahashi Shiro
Takahashi Shiro is encamped inside Nijo Palace, a hostile location in Kyoto, near the Nijo Tenshu.

Since he is located inside a hostile area, try to avoid detection by the other soldiers.
Shiro is a formidable enemy who unleashes two unstoppable attacks in succession, making it best to dodge them.
However, players must be mindful of their surroundings, as the fight takes place in a very narrow area, increasing the risk of falling into the water.

Defeating him rewards you with The Untamable One, an uncommon katana, and Armor-Piercing on Consecutive Skills.
Defeating Takahashi Ichi-hime
Takahashi Ichi-hime is located outside Umenomiya Taisha Shrine, west of Nijo Palace.

If you approach and speak to her while aiming at her, you’ll be given the choice to kill or spare her.
Sparing her will still count toward completing the mission, but you won’t receive any rewards.

However, if players choose to spare her, they will be rewarded with Daydreamer’s Grip, an uncommon bow, and Adrenaline on Affected Enemies.
Defeating Takahashi Goro
Takahashi Goro is located far to the north of the city, near the Shokokuji Pagoda fast travel point.

Unlike his siblings, he is not trained for combat, making it easy to finish him off by assassinating him.
However, you also have the option to spare his life by aiming at him as you approach.
Additionally, players will receive all the items as rewards without having to kill him.
Defeating Takahashi Inoshichi
With all the siblings defeated, you can now take on Takahashi Inoshichi in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

You’ll find him inside a manor in the southern part of Kyoto, guarded by a dozen soldiers, so exercise caution when infiltrating the area.
Since the area is heavily guarded, employing stealth with Naoe will be crucial for successfully infiltrating the area.
If Naoe manages to enter the building and assassinate the target without alerting the guards, the quest will end there.

However, once Inoshichi dies, all the guards will rush into the room. It’s easier to deal with them beforehand.
