Polyxia is the newest character in Honkai: Star Rail. She is the twin sister of Castorice. Their story is full of pain, love, and sacrifice. Long ago, both twins were chosen to become the next god of death.
But to gain that power, one had to kill the other. Castorice gave up her life so Polyxia could become the demigod of death. But Polyxia couldn’t accept that.
She broke the rules of life and death, reshaped her soul, and became a great dragon named Pollock. She carried her soul up the river of souls and brought her back to the world of the living.
The Curse Of Thanos And The Broken Cycle In The Story Of Polyxia In HSR
Because of her actions, Polyxia became Thanos, the god who judges souls. Thanos raises the left hand to allow death, and the soul enters the Nether Realm for reincarnation.
The right hand rejects the soul and sends it back to the living world. Polyxia said death was once a pair of hands, but they were split when they came to the mortal world.
Since then, the hands could never touch again. Castorice became the half that gives death, and Polyxia became the half that defies it.

She said she died the moment he entered the living world. Her Titan form disappeared, and the cycle of life and death stopped.
Souls couldn’t meet death and were stuck in a rising river of the dead. She admitted that her selfish wish to save her caused more pain.
Additionally, she stayed in the Nether Realm, taking care of the flowers, thinking about life, death, and loneliness. She waited for Castorice for centuries, afraid she had forgotten her.
The Reunion And Final Choice
When they finally met again, Castorice had no memory from the past but had seen her during an experiment.
Polyxia spoke of their past. She said their lives were like two hands different but the same.

Castorice told her sister that her life wasn’t wasted. She understood emotions and her purpose because of her.
They both realized that no single being, not even a god, can handle life and death alone.
So, they agreed to give their core flame to someone else and return the cycle of life and death to the people. They were never meant to pick souls, only to watch over them.

Now, they will tend to the flowers together and create a warm sea for the souls to come. As the prophecy said, the dead will be reborn, and their shared journey will finally find peace.
