HIGHLIGHTS
- Bore in toady’s NYT Connections didn’t mean to make a hole but rather represented the state of fatigue or disinterest.
- Mousse today was actually a hair product, instead of a bakery item.
- Hair Products, Austere, Clues at a crime scene, and Weary are the four groups of April 28, 2025’s NYT Connections.
Today marks the 687th day of the NYT Connections puzzle, where the difficulty is slightly above average, 2.8 out of 5.
Unlike yesterday, today’s game features fewer complex words, but placing certain ones, including Mousse, Fiber, Bore, and Drain in their actual group could get tricky.
However, if you are a regular Connections player and analyze the words better, you could even solve the puzzle without wasting any lives.
Answers For Today’s NYT Connections (April 28, 2025)
As today’s Connections’ difficulty was quite low and the words were fairly simple, I tried to solve the puzzle without wasting any lives.
If you want to start today’s puzzle with the easiest group of items you can think of, used in Hair.

The first set of words I chose were Gel, Spray, Mousse, and Wax (often used by Men). While Mousse may confuse most players, it is also a foam-based hair product.
Next up in the game, I went for Bare, Plain, Simple, and Spare without hesitation, as they seemed to match one another. The group was named “Austere,” which means having a plain appearance or no luxuries/comforts.

For the third puzzle of the day, try to think of something you often see in detective movies or series.
Did you get the clue that it’s actually a Clue? If so, you can get the third group with ease as well.
The words that complete the “Clues at the Crime Scene” group are Fiber (Trace evidence), Hair, Fingerprint, and Tire Mark.
As my job was to select the last four words, Tire, Bore, Drain (Energy drain), and Exhaust, I got the final group “Weary.”

On most occasions, while playing connections, I usually didn’t have an idea about the group’s connections.
But today’s purple group seemed a bit easier as it referred to feeling tired or being out of energy. Here are the answers for today’s Connections game;
- Hair Products (Yellow): Gel, Mousse, Spray, Wax
- Austere (Green): Bare, Plain, Simple, Spare
- Clues at a Crime Scene (Blue): Fiber, Fingerprint, Hair, Tire Mark
- Weary (Purple): Bore, Drain, Exhaust, Tire
