Roblox Privacy Policy Update Effective From August 7
On July 1, Roblox updated its Privacy Policy, indicating that it will soon begin selling and sharing users personal information.
However, the update did not specify the exact date for implementing this feature within the platform.
But, on July 24, Roblox sent its users a message stating that the platform will start selling, sharing, and processing your personal information for targeted advertising purposes.
This update is expected to take effect on August 7, when Roblox will engage other companies to use shared information for specific tasks.
Those companies are only allowed to use your information to complete the relevant tasks and are prohibited from selling Personal Information.
Furthermore, this update is only for users who are 13 years old or older. The personal information of those under 13 cannot be sold legally.
Roblox Assures The Safety And Protection Of Your Information
Although your information might be sold to other companies, Roblox ensures that the sold data is used only for the specific task.
On the Privacy Policy update of July 1, Roblox has clearly mentioned that your data will only be sold for specific tasks only, stating;
" We may share your information, including Personal Information, with other companies (known as third-party agents, contractors, or service providers). We hire these companies to perform services for us. These companies are only allowed to use the information we share to complete the relevant tasks. They are not allowed to use the information we share for any other purpose, including selling Personal Information. We make sure that all companies that we share information with are capable of looking after the information properly."Moreover, if you are worried that your data will be misused. You can delete your Roblox account and try out for a different platform.
If you are unsure about it, you can avoid providing your personal information in Roblox’s forums and chats.
The only information Roblox will have about you unless you share is your gender and birthday, which are necessary for the login. Therefore, avoid sharing personal information on the platform to protect your data.
