- Absorb Using Capillary Action, Greek Prefixes, Titular Talking Animals of Films, and Starting With Silent Letters are the NYT Connections categories for May 14, 2025.
Like always, I started my day with NYT Game, yet this time I preferred to do NYT Connections first and then Strands.
If you analyze today’s words closely, you might notice that a few are a bit rare and we don’t normally hear them.
In today’s game, words like Mnemonic, Neo, and Gnome seem challenging, as they seem pretty difficult to group.
Answers For Today’s NYT Connections (May 14, 2025)
After closely analyzing today’s NYT Connections words, the first four words that crossed my mind were, Draw, Pull, Suck and Wick.
Each of these words seems to be related to the pulling actions or absorbing something.
So, grouping out these words, I got the yellow group “Absorb Using Capillary Action“.

Moving ahead with the remaining words, I opt to go for Neo, Dumbo, Ted, and Babe, thinking that they were cartoon characters, but I was wrong about this.
Neo And Meta Meaning In NYT Connections #703
After losing one life, I was able to get the green group “Greek Prefexes” with words like Hyper (Hyperactive, Hyperbole), Kilo (Kilometer), Meta (Metabolism), and Neo (Neoclassical, Neoblast).
Neo in today’s NYT Connections is not a Neo from the Matrix or Neo Yokio, but rather a Greek prefix that means new, recent, or revived.

On the other hand, Meta is another Greek prefix that translates to after, along with, beyond, among, or with.
Mnemonic And Gnome Meaning In NYT Connections #703
As I progressed with the remaining words, I got the purple group “Starting With Silent Letters,” which included words like Mnemonic, Psyche, Gnome, and Knee.
A mnemonic is a memory trick that helps you remember something, but in today’s NYT Connections, it represents one of the words starting with silent letters.

Gnome is a legendary dwarfish creature supposed to guard the earth’s treasures underground; in today’s NYT Games, it denotes words with a first letter silent.
Dumbo And Ted Meaning In NYT Connections #703
With only four words remaining, I quickly grouped them and created the final category, “Titular Talking Animals of Films.”
In today’s game, Dumbo is a 1941 American animated fantasy drama film by Walt Disney Productions, which is based on Dumbo, the Flying Elephant.
Likewise, Ted represents the 2012 American fantasy comedy media franchise, whose plot centers around the titular teddy bear that magically comes to life.

Meanwhile, Babe is a 1995 comedy-drama film by Chris Noonan, and Bolt is a 2008 film whose plot centers around a dog named Bolt.
After getting the blue group at the end, I was able to complete today’s NYT Connection game with the following answers;
- Absorb Using Capillary Action (Yellow): Draw, Pull, Suck, Wick
- Greek Prefixes (Green): Hyper, Kilo, Meta, Neo
- Starting With Silent Letters (Purple): Gnome, Knee, Mnemonic, Psyche
- Titular Talking Animals of Films (Blue): Bolt, Dumbo, Ted, Babe
