Deltarune is a story-based game by Toby Fox, creator of Undertale, with four chapters released at different times.
The Recruits system was first introduced in Chapter 2 and allows players to bring enemies to Castle Town.
Chapters 3 and 4 were released on June 5, 2025, and introduced new puzzles, enemies, and recruitable characters.
Recruits System In Deltarune
This system allows players to add friendly versions of enemies to Castle Town by sparing them during battles.

Further, you can only recruit normal enemies, not bosses. To recruit an enemy type, you must spare a certain number of that same enemy.
Once enough have been spared, they will be added to your list and will appear in Castle Town.
However, if you ever defeat that enemy type with attacks, they will become “Lost.” When an enemy is “Lost,” it means you can never recruit them again in that save file.
Chapter 3 Recruits In Deltarune
In Deltarune Chapter 3, there is a new set of enemies that you can recruit. Some players have noticed it is easy to miss one, especially since the game does not show a clear list.

If you are trying to complete all the recruits in Deltarune Chapter 3, these are the enemies you need to spare;
- Shadowguy
- Shuttah
- Zapper
- Ribbick
- Watercooler
- Pippins
- Lanino
- Elnina
Recruits In Deltarune Chapter 4
Chapter 4 also has new enemies you can recruit. Players can recruit the following enemies in Chapter 4:
- Guei
- Balthizard
- Bibliox
- Mizzle
- Miss Mizzle
- Wicabel
- Winglade
- Organikk
Finally, the Recruits system is a fun way to bring more life into Castle Town. If you prefer saving over fighting, this system is ideal for you.
