I was pretty surprised by the difficulty of today’s Connections edition, which was rated 2.8/5, but the words suggested it should be much higher.
Almost all of the words in today’s game had multiple terms and meanings, and unsurprisingly, it took me a while to get it done, even with a few mistakes.
The words that should be tricky to group out could include Collins, Literary, Flare, Bell, and Old Man.
Answers And Hints For Today’s NYT Connections (June 23, 2025)
Just looking at Today’s puzzle, I immediately knew it was going to be tricky, even though the difficulty was around average.
The first group I got was Fiction Categories (Green group), after losing a life. The first set of words was Speculative, Young Adult, Historical, and Speculative.
Jumping into another group, I got the Blue Group, which was related to the popular Novelist and writer, Ernest Hemingway.
Old Man And Bell Meaning In NYT Connections
While this group was quite challenging to obtain, I still managed to get the second group with just two lives left. The words in the blue category were Old Man, Sun, Bell, and Farewell.
All words in the group were just Words from Hemingway’s Novel Titles. The full Novel Titles are: The Old Man and the Sea, The Sun Also Rises, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and A Farewell to Arms.
Answers For The Yellow And Purple Groups
Even though I was halfway through the game, I was surprised I didn’t get the yellow group even at this point, which was seemingly supposed to be easy.
Fortunately, after spending a considerable amount of time and losing another life, I managed to obtain the third group as well; however, I must admit it was pure luck.
The supposedly easier group in the puzzle, the yellow one, was just Kinds of Jeans: Boyfriend (relaxed, loose-fit, and sits on hip rather than the waist), Flare (widening from knees, which creates a bell-shaped silhouette), Mom (high-waisted), and Skinny (tight fit with narrowed leg openings).
Although I’m not a Fashionista, there’s absolutely no way people could get it without wasting their lives or scratching their heads.
Lastly, for the final group of the Day, all I needed to do was select them. The last category consisted of glassware, and the Purple group name was ___ Glass Glassware.
Here, Collins Glass Glassware is a tumbler which holds 10 to 14 oz and is used to serve cocktails. Moreover, a Cocktail Glass is a Type of Glassware that refers to a stemmed glass with an inverted cone-shaped bowl, typically served without ice.
Lastly, Old Fashioned and Shot Glass Glassware means a short/sturdy glass, which is also known as a rocks or lowball glass, and a small glass used to gulp down drinks (tequila shot drinks) in one go, respectively.
