HIGHLIGHTS
- The N Symbol in today’s NYT Connections represents And, Together or With. For e.g, Jack N’ Jill and Rock N’ Roll.
- In today’s game, O was a shocked/surprised emoticon. Whereas, Right Angle (⊾) actually meant Right itself.
- Currency Symbols, And/Together With, Emoticon Mouths, and “Right,” are the four group types today.
It’s April 1st, and you might think The New York Times is making a fool out of players, just by looking at Today’s Grid, as it looks a bit different than other days.
But, if you have played regularly over the year, the format changes once in a while; the last time I remember was back in December, when the creator used images instead.
Even though today’s difficulty is quite complex, 4.6 out of 5, probably due to the use of letters and symbols rather than words, you can easily succeed if you sharpen your brain a bit.
Hints And Answers In Today’s NYT Connections (April 1, 2025)
After a brief scan of Today’s NYT Connections, I instantly selected $, £, ¥, and €, without any second thought, as they seemed like Currency types.
In fact, the group name was Currency Symbols. The symbols were Dollar, Pound, Yen/Yuan (used in China), and Euros.

The second group was also reasonably straightforward, even though it did take me few more seconds and, unfortunately, a life to sort it out.
I actually selected, (, ), +, and X, thinking they were mathematical symbols of the BODMAS rule.
Nevertheless, I eventually got it right with &, +, N, and X. The Letters/ Symbols mean together/With (the group name was And/Together With). While the first three terms seem obvious, X is mostly used for collaborations, if you didn’t know.
While I was already halfway through the Connections, I was confident of succeeding in the game.
O And ⊾ Meaning In Today’s NYT Connections
For my next try, I selected R, →, ⊾, and ✔. To be honest, the third symbol gave it away, as I knew it was an right angle. For the next three, R is usually a replacement, → portyars rightward/ right direction, and lastly, ✔ (checkmark/tick) represents correct/right.
The Purple group was “Right.” Finally, to put the game to bed, I selected (, ), O, and P. I wouldn’t have thought the group name would be Emoticon Mouths (showcasing emotions), even in a million years.

The signs/letters represented a sad face, a smiley face, a surprised face, and a Playful gesture (sticking out tongue), respectively. Here are the complete answers of today’s NYT Connections;
- Currency Symbols (Yellow): $, £, ¥, €,
- And/Together With (Green): &, +, N, and X
- Emoticon Mouths (Blue): (, ), O, P
- “Right” (Purple): R, →, ⊾, ✔
