Bawl And Blubber Meaning In NYT Connections For May 19, 2025 (#708)

Looks tough, and truly is!

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The actual meaning of Bawl is to shout or call out noisily and unrestrainedly, but in today’s NYT Connections, it represents a homophone of “Ball,” the rounded part of the foot.
  • Blubber in today’s NYT Connections refers to the thick layer of fat in Whales that helps with insulation and buoyancy.
  • Fundraising Event, Spaces On Monopoly Board, Features Of A Toothed Whale, and Homophones Of Part Of The Foot are the NYT Connections categories for May 19, 2025.

The Connections Companion rates the difficulty level of the everyday Connections game, with today’s difficulty being 3 out of 5.

Although the rating is said to be the average of all, sometimes it does not seem to be accurate, as today’s puzzle seemed tougher than expected.

Words like, Bawl, Blubber, and Flipper seem to pose quite a challenge in today’s game.

Answers For Today’s NYT Connections (May 19, 2025)

Analyzing today’s NYT Connections, the first four words that crossed my mind were Avenue, Chance, Utility, and Railroad.

Since I often play Monopoly Go, grouping these words was not challenging. Each word felt connected to the Monopoly board, which features 40 spaces, including 4 railroads, 2 utilities, and 3 Chance spaces.

After grouping these Monopoly Spaces, I got the green group “Spaces on a Monopoly Board.”

Further analyzing the remaining words, I got the yellow group “Fundraising Events,” which featured words like Gala, Function, Benefit, and Ball.

Blubber And Flipper Meaning In NYT Connections #708

As I progressed with the remaining words, I had no idea about the remaining two groups.

So, after taking a few hints, getting help from a friend, and losing two lives, I got the blue group “Features Of A Toothed Whale.”

The blue group features words like Blubber, Flipper, Fluke, and Melon, where Melon refers to the specialized organ in a toothed whale’s forehead that aids in echolocation.

Blubber in today’s NYT Connections refers to the thick layer of fat in marine mammals (mostly Whales) that helps with insulation and buoyancy.

On the other hand, a Fluke is the lobes of a whale’s tail that provide propulsion. Meanwhile, a Flipper is a limb-like structure used for steering and movement in water.

Bawl And Tow Meaning In NYT Connections #708

With only four words remaining at the end, I quickly grouped them out and got the purple group “Homophones Of Part Of The Foot“.

In today’s NYT Connections, Bawl is not just to shout or call out noisily and unrestrainedly, but Bawl also represents a homophone of “Ball,” the rounded part of the foot.

Tow is basically an act of towing a vehicle or boat; on the other hand, it is also a homophone of a toe, any of the five digits at the end of the human foot.
