HIGHLIGHTS
- Bess in Today’s Connections referred to Porgy and Bess, an English-language opera by the famous American composer George Gershwin.
- Seville also meant another Opera, The Barber of Seville, instead of a place in Spain. It was composed by Gioachino Rossini and first performed on February 20, 1816.
- Rationale, Types of Snow, Last Words of Famous Opera Titles, and Real ___ are the four groups in Today’s edition.
If you have just started playing NYT Connections, you have to arrange 16 words (sometimes letters or images) into four groups sharing a common theme.
Yellow is the easiest among the group, whereas purple is the trickiest. But you can even opt for the difficult ones first.
Usually, a few of the words in the grid are difficult to arrange as they may have multiple meanings or no meanings at all. For today, a few ones could be difficult to arrange, including Slush, Seville, and Bess.
Answers Of Today’s NYT Connections (May 15, 2025)
Being a hardcore football (soccer) and Arsenal FC fan, the first word that caught my eye was Madrid. Honestly, I was pretty sure it was definitely related to Real Madrid.
Secondly, I stumbled upon Seville (initially thought it was Sevilla FC) and thought maybe the groups are related to clubs based in Spain, but since no other words seemed to match, I started looking for different connections.
As there was also Estate in today’s Connections, there was no way it would not be Real Estate. To add the other two words to the group, I selected World (Real World) and Deal (Real Deal), too.

Usually, many players, including me, get the purple group (Real ___) as it is the trickiest, as previously mentioned, but today it was a bit different.
For the next set of words, I chose Foundation, Basis, Grounds, and Reason as they all mean and determine something logical or concrete. The group was called “Rationale.”
Progressing into today’s edition, the next words I selected were Slush and Ice, feeling they could be related to Slushy (informally also called Slush ) Drinks.
So, I also added Powder and Crust to the mix, even though Crust made no sense, but I felt it was the closest to match.

With a bit of luck and a random guess, the green group was also sorted. Funnily so, the group was Types of Snow.
